Gesture Synth
FreeGesture Synth turns webcam hand movements into real‑time music controls and a four‑track sequencer, suited to musicians, educators and students.
Gesture Synth is a free browser instrument that uses your webcam to convert two‑hand movements into musical controls, no install or account required. It runs in a compatible web browser and processes video frames locally, so nothing is uploaded or stored as recordings.
There are two main play modes. In Gesture mode the left hand picks harmonic degrees and chords while the right hand adjusts chord style, volume, filter tone, harmony and octave. Theremin mode offers continuous pitch and volume control for melodic playing and sound experiments.
The app also includes a four‑track loop sequencer with tempo and time signature options, editable steps, track levels, mute and solo, plus local export to WAV or WebM. Guided practice lessons teach familiar public‑domain melodies one gesture at a time. No microphone access is required.
- Runs in browser: no installation, subscription or MIDI controller needed.
- Privacy: hand‑landmark processing happens locally, no video uploads.
