Lab Laps

Lab Laps is a web app that gathers common lab tools into one place so researchers, students and lab teams can keep protocols, timers and calculations together rather than hopping between apps. It runs in a browser and is designed to keep work synced across desktop and mobile devices.

The platform centres on protocol tracking and multi-timers. You can build stepwise protocols, tick off steps while you work and run several labelled timers at once, useful for parallel incubations, washes or timed reaction steps.

There’s a set of lab calculators for routine tasks: molarity and dilution maths (including C1V1=C2V2 and serial dilutions), master mix volumes, buffer and medium preparation, unit conversions and custom equations. These tools aim to reduce manual spreadsheet work when preparing solutions or reaction mixes.

Lab Laps also offers image-based counting tools. The colony counter and blood cell counter use AI to detect colonies or cells from uploaded images, and you can review and adjust detections before finalising counts. Those online counting tools are available without logging in. The site includes a plate labelling tool that supports common plate formats and exports maps as PNG or PDF.
