Kura is an iPhone app for people who collect vinyl and CDs and want to know exactly which pressing they own. It uses the phone camera to read labels, barcodes and runout etchings, then matches those details to a pressing rather than just naming the album or artist.

The app lays out the evidence behind each identification, showing fields like catalogue number, label info, barcode, matrix/runout, country, year and format. If the scan doesn’t provide enough information, Kura will indicate uncertainty instead of guessing.

It’s built with collectors in mind for use while browsing or shopping. You can scan an album in a shop to see what pressing it is and whether you already have that same pressing in your collection. Kura also stores copy-specific notes such as price paid, condition and play count, so each physical copy can have its own record.

  • Pressing-level identification with field-by-field evidence
  • Record details and copy-specific tracking (price, condition, plays)
  • Shopping-friendly scans to compare finds with your collection
  • Listening logs and ratings to track plays
  • Value info shown only when supported by actual sales data

Kura is currently in beta on TestFlight by invitation and supports English, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. Official site: https://www.kuramusic.com/
