If you’re into game design or just love creating 3D assets without getting bogged down in endless modeling and texturing, Sloyd might be the tool for you. It’s designed to help both hobbyists and professionals generate game-ready assets quickly. The whole idea is to streamline the asset creation process using AI, and it does a decent job at that. With parametric generators, you can adjust parameters to get the perfect look, and the real-time machine learning adds a neat touch by optimizing the results as you go.

One of the standout features for me was how easy it is to iterate on your designs. I especially liked the ability to tweak parameters on the fly and see instant results. It’s pretty fun to play around with the sliders and watch your model morph into something completely different. If you’re like me, who struggles with detailed modeling, having this level of control is incredibly satisfying. Plus, the assets you generate are quick to make and ready to be dropped into your game projects, which speeds up the development time immensely.

That said, it’s worth mentioning that Sloyd isn’t perfect. The pricing might be a sticking point for some, as it does come as a paid service which might deter casual users who aren’t committed yet. While I believe the cost is justified with the time saved, curiosity-driven users might find it a bit steep to take the plunge. Also, while the generators are impressive, sometimes the output can feel a bit generic. There are moments when the uniqueness of my designs could use a little more “character,” but maybe that’s a common trade-off with AI-generated assets.

All in all, if you’re into game design or want to whip up some 3D models for personal projects without spending hours fiddling in traditional software, I’d recommend giving Sloyd a shot. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve, and make sure it fits your budget. For indie developers or designers looking for a faster workflow, there’s definitely value in what Sloyd offers.
